Pro--I have to disagree about the place being uncooperative to vegans, when I went they went through every possible alternative unprovoked when I said I was vegan.
--It was also the only place I've seen a vegan garlic bread of a 'garlicky' taste
--Omni family member (always has meat/dairy with meal) very satisfied
Con--Have to agree about the table being sticky, as if it wasn't cleaned
--It wasn't at all busy when we went and although we weren't waiting long, others were
--I can't speak for all the staff but one or two seemed wholly unenthusiastic and absented minded
Overall: food good and although not marked there is a range of vegan options; service not exceptional; surroundings very light and airy on a hot day

Well we visited, but were left waiting at the counter. Two staff were there, but we were totally ignored. We left after 5 minutes, having not been spoken to or looked at. Very rude, will not be going back.

Had a bit of the same experience in May as the person who went in August, two men seemed to be running it ,seemed disinterested and picked up not keen on vegans, got a wry smile when asking what was suitable, awful customer service, bottled drink given to 12 year old who could not get the lid off, staff commented when she was seen struggling but offered no help, just felt they did not really give a damn, wonder if they are new owners maybe not interested in the veggie side, did not feel welcomed and would not go again..table was sticky too!

The food prepared in this restaurant is absolutely excellent. Anything from the most simple salad to any of the main courses. Stunning! Vegetarian at its best!
Unfortunately, I cannot give the same praise to the woman I presume is the owner.
I used to eat there really quite often a few months ago, but was driven out. Rude? Jeez, that's an UNDERSTATEMENT!
It's a pity, because at first, she seems fine, but as time goes by.....NO! NO! She's not OK! If for instance you find yourself expressing any views on anything. Watch out! If she hears you, you've had it. She is without a doubt the most bigoted, biased, interfering, prejudiced, brow beating, self opinionated bully I have ever met in any restaurant or almost anywhere! Also, she seems to have incredibly potent mood swings…all sweetness and light one minute, then suddenly, you notice the look on her face has changed to what can only be described as a sort of black, seething, rage…then her walk becomes the same….stamping up and down the place glaring wildly and madly. There’s no way you can ask her for anything at this point, believe me!
I have written this review in absolute truth and honesty as I see it. I’m not a grudge bearer or something. The above is true and accurate as I see it.
Needless to say, I do not go there anymore..."GOOD"! I can hear her shout.
As I said, the food is seriously good, the price is good, and you'll think she's good at first.....

Having eaten here many times over the years we where looking forward to arriving at Glastonbury and a realy good veggie meal. What a disappointment! With only 3 other people ( a couple and a single customer) we waited 50 minutes after ordering a salad before we asking when we could expect our meal. We were told we would have to wait as meals were strictly placed in order and the other couple had ordered a starter! The lone diner had received her meal after 25-30mins. They did how ever offer us a take out box if we were in a hurry! Whether that would have been quicker they alone know. As said we have eaten here many times no complaints about the food but it needs to sort out its staff and facilites are in need of an update and a thorough clean. By the way they only charged for one meal but we wanted good service not cut price food. Their loss.

A wide range of traditional, hearty vegetarian food situated in the heart of Glastonbury. The staff are very welcoming.
The restaurant displays local artwork and other Glastonbury traditions.

We had intended to eat at Rainbow's End (my g/f had eaten there before and spoke well of it), but it was a very warm day and all the vegan meals there appeared to be hot, so we moved down the street to Cafe Galatea, who said they could do a mixed vegan salad. (With the benefit of hindsight I'm sure the Rainbow's End would have done the same had we asked - and there was more of a buzz about it - and it had the option of outside eating. Aw, shucks.)
The Cafe Galatea was a disappointing experience. Although there seemed to be a cheerful atmosphere among the staff when they were behind the counter, this did not carry over to their serving of the customers, all of whom seemed to be getting the same perfunctory and uninterested service as we did.
The vegan salads were well presented and at £5-50 not expensive, but it was clear that they had been prepared "ad hoc" and they lacked the essential central element of anything bulky - being pretty close to being what non-vegetarians disparagingly refer to as "rabbit food" when they mock our diet. Bread and vegan spread was a steepish 75p per portion.
I suppose we would eat again at the Cafe Galatea if it were the only vegetarian place in town, but, since there are at least two others in Glastonbury, if we go that way again we will choose another.
