If you're not into meat substitutes, this probably isn't the place for you. Ifyou don't care either way, then you're in for a treat. The vegetarian menu is the most extensive I have ever seen for a Chinese restaurant, there are dishes with vegetarian duck, veggie pork, chicken and ham. Plus there are oodles of bean curd and vegetable dishes. They do a couple of set menus, one of which we had, and also a vegan menu. The prices are extremely good and the food was plentiful and tasty.

Having had a series of disappointing meals recently, I was in the mood for some good food, so we plumped for our fail safe option. It was Saturday night and very busy - we could only get a table for 6.30pm - which is a testament in itself to its success.

They run an eat as much as you like option, which most other people seemed to be choosing, but to be honest, it sounded quite complicated and I had already decided what I would like before I even sat down at the table. I also don't have a huge appetite, so we went a la carte. I had "pork" sate with peanut sauce and my mucker had crispy "duck". I ordered sweet and sour tofu to follow with cashew nuts, plain rice noodles and a bowl of steaming rice. Sizzling "beef" made up matey's order. My tofu wasn't of the bland and flabby variety, but had been marinated and fried first, and was thus quite delicious. The complimentary veggie crackers (dim sum wrappers)were sent back as they were soft but otherwise our meal was exemplary. Service was attentive and efficient despite the fact they were heaving. Several vegan options including a set meal make this a choice for anyone.

Had a meal here to celebrate an anniversary and based on recommendations on this site. Food was first class as was the service. We had the vegetarian crispy duck, something Ive missed since becoming veggie 13 years ago, it was excellent.

We were delighted to see on our recent visit that they now do a VEGAN feast for minimum two people. This is in addition to their extensive separate vegetarian menu which also has vegan options. This excellent restaurant never fails to please.

We were pleased to see on our Sunday visit that they now offer lunchtime specials - different combinations of starter, main meal, sweet and drink, according to how hungry (or poor) you are. A starter, main meal and drink came to £8.50 each which I felt was good value.

What a treat was in store for us when we ate here, quite early one Saturday evening. (We had been shopping in Oxford and were staying just outside)

I have never had such a delicious, freshly prepared selection of Chinese food. The place seemed fairly empty but we were squashed in a corner towards the back of the restaurant very close to two other tables of two. I could overhear what they were ordering and was interested to note that 5 of the 6 of us were choosing vegetarian meals.

The biggest hit for me was the “mock meat” that is used extensively in this establishment. I especially liked the mock sizzling pork sate that was served with a delicious apricot/peanut sauce. We opted for the vegetarian feast and had “prawn” crackers, mushroom tempura, spring rolls, sizzling sliced “beef”, some sort of sweet and sour chicken " the food just kept on coming! Vegetarian and Vegan options are readily identified.

Just before we were about to leave, the place started to fill up. The nicer tables around us were soon home to chattering small groups and customers were being directed upstairs. When we left it was standing room only and I realised we had been lucky to get a table at all.

Service was charming, the toilets were spotless, I am at a loss to find a fault. That being so, I am determined to make a three hour round trip from my home to try this little gem again.
