We go here almost everytime we are in Ambleside. It's very small so can be hard to get a set but it's worth waiting if you need to. All the food is fresh and lovely and they do a very good mocha.

This is the best cafe in Ambleside! The food is fresh, very tasy and there's a great selection of healthy choices. Portions are generous - though try to leave room for the delcious cakes and scones which are freshly baked! Service is very friendly and sitting outside by the ghyll is one of the quieter and more peaceful parts of Ambleside.

This is a response to Sarah D's review from the owners of Rattle Gill Cafe in Ambleside -

We took over the cafe in March 2008 and have never charged for hot/cold water with/without lemon slice! We do however charge for our freshly squeezed lemon and organic honey drink, so perhaps this is misleading.

We are really sorry you were disappointed with your visit to our cafe :(

Rattle Gill has recently changed ownership. I really liked the down to earth menu and also the previous owners. The new cafe is ok but too pricy for what it is, for example, charging £1 for hot water with lemon! When ordering a meal I would not expect to be charged for this. I think there are much better veggie alternatives in Ambleside

(Ed's note: There is a cost involved in supplying hot water and lemon. Fruit tea is just a tea bag and hot water; I don't know anywhere that charges just a £ for that.)

Hello! This is our lovely little veggie cafe in Ambleside. We are located in a quiet peaceful setting opposite the waterwheel with outside seating. We have a couple of wooden signs about town to look out for!

All of the food in our cafe is homemade by us. We make things like homemade cakes, soup, veggie chilli, oven baked jackets, doorstop sandwiches and more. Our coffee is organic fairtrade, as are our teas.

We open 10-5 daily, but close Tuesdays and Wednesdays to get out and enjoy the fells!
