People's kitchen on Sat. evenings

is excellent value for money. There is no choice and the food goes quickly so you need to be on time . 6.30-7.00..It tends to close down in the school hols. when people are on holiday. It is run by volunteers which is why it is such a good value meal £3.00 or £3.50

All food and drink served at the Sumac is vegan.

The Sumac Cafe at present serves as the 'Peoples Kitchen' on Saturdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. This is usually a single choice of a substantial and delectable main dish, for donations of around £3.

The Cafe also runs the 'Breakfast Club' on Sundays from 10am to 4pm, home of the famous Sumac vegan fry-up. Other dishes, snacks, cakes etc are also available.

The Sumac Bar is run as a members club, but we are very welcoming, and new guests can always be signed in. A good selection of vegan and organic real ales, stouts, ciders, wines, and spirits etc are stocked.

The hours are:

Thursdays: 7.00pm - 11.00pm (kids friendly night, with no smoking until 9pm)

Fridays: 7.30pm - 11.00pm

Saturdays: 7.30pm til 11.00pm (no smoking whilst the People's Kitchen is underway).

We are entirely run by volunteers, and always welcome new people to join us. However because of this we do have occasional closures when volunteers are unavailable. If you are travelling a long way, then perhaps phone first. These hours are also subject to possible change over time.

Disabled access is from the rear of the building on Beech Avenue.

This is a volunteer-run cafe situated in an environmental information centre. The portions are very generous but the food is ridiculously cheap. Everything is 100% vegan and the breakfast is fantastic! The down-side to it being run by volunteers is the limited opening hours, which are 11-3 Fri-Sun.
