The Red Mango is a simple, friendly and reliable no-frills cafeteria-style eating place at Havant Arts Centre. It's open Monday to Saturday from 9.30 till 4.00. We've eaten there about five times over the last couple of years. Although sadly it's no longer totally vegetarian, all soups are vegetarian and there are always three or four vegetarian main courses on the short menu that changes daily. Soups are £2-50 (£2-95 with a roll and butter). Main courses are generally £4-95 - typically including a vegetarian tart with various salads and at least one other vegetarian main course. There are excellent home-made cakes for £1-50.

There's usually a vegan option, but they tell me that vegans should ring in advance to be safe - they can usually fix something for you if they know you're coming.

We've found it's best to go early if having lunch, because sometimes the choice is already a bit limited by about 1.00.

There is a pay-and-display car park next to the Arts Centre.

Until a year or so ago, this establishment was totally vegetarian, and it's unfortunate that the policy has changed, because all-vegetarian places have a special atmosphere, and God knows there are few enough of them about. Apparently the decision was made by the Arts Centre's Board of Directors, who might (or might not) be interested to receive constructive comments on the matter!

Had previously visited as a vegetarian. However the first (and last) time I visited was as a vegan. I asked them if they had a vegan dish - after much hesitation and questionning with regard to what 'vegan' meant they claimed they did indeed have one vegan meal. To cut a long story short, it certainly wasn't vegan. Am very disappointed with how down hill it has gone over the past year and a half. Will not be going to again.
