My wife and I and our 13 year-old daughter tried Mr Man tonight...

We found parking easy (on a Sunday)

Service very quiet and informal, food excellent.

There are a few Indian and Japanese - inspired dishes on the menu now too.

We started with the dumplings and tempura and I have to admit the tempura was not the best I've had, slightly greasy, but OK.

We then had the mock crispy duck, which was very good but there is actually too much filling to fit into the two pancakes you get each.

Mains were sweet and sour "prawns", tofu with ginger and spring onion and a sizzling "chicken" in black bean sauce.

We are a bit squeamish about calling stuff by "meaty" names or that look too much like the original meat shapes, but getting past that, we loved all of them - very tasty.

A small portion of spring onion rice and a huge plate of tasty vegetable noodles (with more tofu!) were the accompaniments.

After that lot, no one could cope with a pudding, but after the recommendation we read above, we managed one portion of the red-bean pancakes between us. Not bad at all, but I wouldn't have managed a whole portion.

Cost was £57 including service for the three of us, and we came out stuffed and happy.

Another (almost) three hour round trip to visit here for supper on Saturday. We normally visit on Sunday lunch en route to somewhere else when they have the buffet, but this time it was a la carte. We needed to check whether this is the best mock duck in London. Yes it is. And is the sweetcorn soup as good as I remember? Definitely. What about the service? Spot on. We had the set feast for four of us but had too much food; next time we will have a feast for three.

Highly recommeded. One of my all time favourite places.

I have been to Mr Man on many occasions. It is a friendly, spotlessly clean, unpretentious restaurant, which is very reasonably priced.

I am vegetarian and so is my partner, but have also been with ravenous carnivorous friends who loved it!

The food here is absolutely fantastic. They have so many variations of soya with a variety of sauces and marinations.

The menu is wide ranging which caters for many needs.

The staff are friendly and the food is always fresh and tasty.

Me and my partner have cravings for the food whenever we haven't been for a while!

The veggie duck and chicken in szechwan sauce is fantastic!

A must for all veggies and non.

Promised myself I'd leave it at least 6 months before making the 160 mile round trip. Couldn't wait 1 month! This time tried the homey bbq soya pieces, delicious! Let's see how long I can keep away this time. (not long!)

Absolutely fantastic, well worth the 90 minute drive (bank holiday sunday - very little traffic).Had assorted starters plus some extra dumplings. The 'chicken' satay is brilliant. We then had vegetarian crispy duck. For mains we had vegetarian chicken sweet and sour, special fried rice and special chowmein. The waitress recommended the red bean pancakes for dessert, even though we were full we tried them, and like everything else, very yummy 10 out of 10. By far the best vegetarian restaurant we have ever visited.

Just wish there was something like this in the veggie void that is West Sussex. Thoroughly recommended

This was my second visit to Mr Man. I went with a group for Sunday lunch. You can choose from the menu, opt for the buffet or have a bit of both. I chose the buffet which had a range of 14 dishes plus two soups. What I liked was that being a vegetarian restuarant I could freely try everything - and it was all scrummy!! Great value at £5.50 per head including a soft drink or china tea. Make sure you book. They were full during my visit and had to turn some customers away.

This vegetarian only restaurant is a real treat. A huge menu many dishes with mock meats so there is something for everyone. No alcohol but a wide range of drinks with lovely 'mocktails'. Well worth a visit just wished I lived closer!

Mr Man is a long trek for me, but the lady owner sounded so sincere and friendly when I spoke to her, I thought it was worth a gamble.

Parking is difficult, but don’t let that put you off - this place is a real find. A clean and simply styled place, the menu is entirely vegetarian and all drinks are alcohol-free. It’s open for lunch and supper every day with a buffet at lunchtime. There is a huge selection from which to choose and we all took quite a while to make up our minds. In our party of five were two non veggies - one could be called a veggie sceptic.

The food was excellent - fresh, attractively served, with generous portions. Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful - it seemed nothing was too much trouble. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. With two drinks each, starters and a main meal, the bill for five of us, with service was under £80.

The buffet looks to be good value and there is a take-away option too. Booking is going to be increasingly essential as the word gets round. This new business is the sort that deserves to succeed. Mr Man - we will be back soon.

New owners took over this place, formerly named "Chai" in October 2005.

Vegetarian owners and chef. Take your own wine if you like as they are unlicensed. As well as many dishes that used to be prepared by the previous owners, they now do dim sum and fresh juices.

Open 7 days: lunch 12noon to 2.30pm and supper 6pm to 10.30pm.

Phone before you go as a recent accident in the restaurant has caused a temporary closure. (3/11/05)

Chai was a real treat for me - it is so lovely to be able to have such a choice at a Chinese restaurant. I went with my partner who won't give up his meat. He enjoyed the first two courses but I suggest you ask for a take away menu or grab one off the counter to see what is on offer or you will be ordering blind for the main meal.

I've never had real duck but veggie duck is absolutely mouth- wateringly delicious!

It's not the poshest most pretentious restaurant but it's spotlessly clean and comfortable and friendly so a big thumbs up!
