This is a truly unique and amazing pace. We have recently revisited for the third time and for us vegetarians it is heaven on earth. The food is inspired and delicious. The location is off the beaten track and beautiful. The proprietors, Alberto Musacchio and Malu Simoes, are lovely friendly people who always make us feel welcome and relaxed. Lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun and looking forward to a gourmet 4 course meal - life doesn't get any better that this! There are also so may beautiful Umbrian hill-top towns to visit (Panicale, Castiglione Del Lago, Corciano etc) within easy reach. We love it here and hope to return again!

Very disappointing experience. The hotel is fine, albeit that the rooms are not exceptional and quite warm, so we needed to ask for a fan, but we had booked cookery lessons. Upon arrival the owner told us these could not take place as the hotel was fully booked and one of the souschefs had broken a leg. He could have easily let us know this beforehand, as this happened two weeks earlier and we would have postponed our trip. This meant that we made an expensive trip, flights, car rental, to find that our purpose was not fulfilled and we stayed at this not cheap hotel without the lessons. Just noted on your site that it says 'non smoking' hotel. It was quite a surprise to see the owner smoke all the time (outside that is, but not a good advertisement). The food was very good and the personnel well trained.

In common with many European vegetarian places, Montali routinely uses cheese made with animal rennet and the eggs are not necessarily free range. They do offer a vegan option at a 20% supplement - this needs to be pre-booked.

Wow! This is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. We decided to got to Montali for our honeymoon and could not have picked a better place. The food was exceptional, the place stunning and the proprietor Alberto and his wife were fabulous. Both committed vegetarians, they showed the rest of Italy what they are missing. I photographed every plate of food that was put in front of me just in case I ever forgot any of it in the future. As soon as we can we will be revisiting this veggie paradise and I would totally recommend that anyone who loves veggie food and wants a romantic holiday should do the same. Fantastic
