The place looks lovely from the outside, inside was very cafe-like but this doesn't seem too unusual in Paris. Saveurs Veget'Halles now sells alcohol. On the negative side we didn't really enjoy the food. The vegan spinach omelette was unseasoned and bland, the main meals came with odd accompaniments such as barley and mashed potato on the same plate with no sauce. A lot of food was tepid, mashed potato nearly stone cold. Waitress wasn't overly friendly. We wanted to like it but were disappointed. 1 starter, 1 main, a 3 course meal deal and two beers was 48 Euros.

The best restaurant I have found in Paris so far. I ordered aubergine terrine as starter, it had a delicious flavour and the consistency was just right, very different to those you can find at the shops and that taste...I don’t know, just artificial. The escalope of Soya covered with a pineapple sweet sauce was absolutely fantastic, accompanied by perfectly cooked quinoa and lentils. The carrot cake had the right moisture, like it had just come out of the oven. Worth to visit. 32€ = 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert, plenty of bread and water...I was sharing but we both end up pretty full.

Staff were very helpful (though didn't offer us an english menu (see first review) but did speak english to us!!) the owner gave us a copy of abc vert which list organic outlets and restaurants in Paris. (www.abcvert.fr). Food was excellent with good portion sizes), decor modern but I must say I did fancy a glass of wine!! sigh! We had the carrot and ginger smoothie which was gorgeous. This restaurant is in the Marais area, very near the chatelet metro and the forum des halles shopping centre. Price reasonable - 15 - 18 euros for the set menus.

Saveurs Veget’halles is the new name for this veggie place near the Louvre. Attractively decorated and with friendly staff, who supplied us with an English menu, we really enjoyed eating here. They offer a two or three course special for set prices. At lunchtime this was 15e and 18e respectively. We all went for the set menu, which represented good value, considering the large portion sizes and quality of the food. I had the tempura to start and they were as they should be: light and crispy with crunchy vegetables of courgette and carrot batons inside, served with onion marmalade. The others had sweet potato and carrot soup; happy shlurps confirmed that it was tasty. My main was the famous seitan steak with mushroom sauce, which has been on the menu for ten years. It was served with salad, rice and my favourites: steamed cabbage and mashed potato. Portions are huge and I really did feel I was tucking into a T bone, quantity wise. My only slight criticism is that the steak and sauce were a little tepid; I’m of the piping hot school but more and more I’m finding this the norm. Two of the other diners had the mock chicken with was served with the same accompaniments as my steak. My daughter’s friend, who is not veggie could not tell it was faux meat. No alcohol is served here or allowed but the drinks choice was extensive and interesting. Overall an excellent experience and one I would heartily recommend.
