This has been my sixth year staying at Coast, the B&B upstairs from the Bean Inn and it definitely won't be my last. I love the food, the ambiance and the friendly staff. My favourite dish of the year has to be the 'Not Meat Balls and spaghetti' - I thought I would never eat food this good again and can't wait to return next year. PS: If you stay at the B&B you even get a Bean Inn breakfast which is well worth getting up for.

To the reviewer below who doesn't like baked beans on toast: why did you order them then? I'm very confused by that statement! There are as many choices as you can dream of on offer for breakfast. I opted for the veggie full English and also got myself some toast (brown and white available) and orange juice. My friend has muesli, fruit and yogurt. There were all sorts of cereals on offer too.

I stayed at Coast with a friend last week and from the moment we made an enquiry the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, light and airy and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere, as it's also an art gallery.

We stayed for dinner, and found the food to be fantastic with a wide array of delicious food on offer. We actually pigged out a bit more than we'd anticipated, as everything looked so gorgeous.

I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone. Well worth a visit and truly a gem of a place for a retreat.

I didn't actually eat here, but did walk all the way up the hill to discover that they don't open for lunch. Just thought I'd pass that on..!

Stayed for 4 nights. The room had a very good view, but small. We were told it was the best room, but the room below was a lot bigger. So if you want a good view, stay at the top. If you want to be able to move around easly, stay on first floor...

We had an evening meal which was OK. If you wish to drink alcohol, you must bring your own.

Breakfast was not exiting. (I do not eat beans on toast.) I would have preferred fruit and "proper" bread. You can have "breakfast on the go" which was good.

My partner and I dined here on New Year's Eve and we were both extremely impressed by the superb quality of the food. My delicious starter of tomato and lima bean soup with homemade sage bread was divine. I followed this with sweetcorn fritters, sauteed sweet potatoes, guacomole and a hot pepper sauce. The fritters melted in my mouth and the pepper sauce was a taste sensation! Although I was full, I couldn't resist a 'bubbabocker glory' for dessert. Like an elegant knickerbocker glory, it was sheer indulgence. The presentation of all of our food was stunning.

The decor in the restaurant is stylish, the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The restaurant's excellent reputation is deserved; I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Found the atmosphere very relaxed (music just the right level), and the waiting staff friendly and helpful and the service very quick. We had a delicious meal here and would definitely return if I was in the local area. The experience mentioned in another review was not the kind of evening that we had!

This is a reply to the review from Maureen P. I was in fact dining at The Bean Inn the same night as her and I find her review to be extremely unfair. My friends and I were sitting at the table next to Maureen and we found the young waiter to be in control and pleasant at all times. Though we did see him walk away from their table when she was still talking to him, I thought it was best for him to walk away and not get into an argument as she was talking to him like he was a child. And also we all agreed that they don't really have anything to complain about as we heard the manager tell them to leave without paying, so they actually got a free meal.

Basically, I think that Maureen has been very unfair in her review and her critisism of the restaurant. We thought that our meal was very enjoyable and would gladly return.

This restaurant is a haven for vegetarians and vegans, but even meat eaters love it too. The food is absolutely stunning and packed with delicious combinations of flavours. All of the staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant has a sophisticated yet relaxed feel. I love it!

After travelling six and a half hours from London and a further one and a half hours to visit the Bean Inn we did not find that this establishment lived up to its high claims. I will keep this review short so, in a nutshell, after booking a table for 7.00pm, at 8.30pm we were told by the young boy serving, who didn't seem to have a clue about any of the food, other people were waiting for our table. He said we didn't need to rush but people were waiting!! This I might add was seconds after he had brought us a dessert and a pot of tea. He then returned and placed a bill on our table. We both felt under extreme pressure and couldn't enjoy our food from this point. Immediately we finished our dessert he returned and requested that we finish our tea in the other room to which we declined and he walked away in a huff whilst I was still speaking. I might also add people who had arrived at the same time as us had finished their meal and had requested water and were sitting around talking. No idea if they were staying at the establishment or not. However if they cannot give good service to paying customers then they should not take bookings.

When we spoke to the owner she was as rude as the boy and told us that she had squeezed us in on a busy evening. She wouldn't listen to us and she said not to pay and never come back and she also just walked away. So rude, so agressive and so unprofessional. The food may have been okay but if you treat people in that manner would you expect them to return? When this booking was made there was no mention whatsoever of 'squeezing us in'. This visit to Cornwall was to help me recuperate after being unwell. We left this cafe very stressed and angry at being treated in this way. I would never wish to return.

We did not stay in the B & B but we did go for a meal in the Bean Inn.

The food was lovely & the service was friendly.

I don't know why people were complaining. We went on a Saturday night of the May bank holiday & everything was fine. Would go again.

A Short Spring break. This small hotel/BB was very clean and comfortable and fairly priced. The food, vegetarian / vegan was really excellent and well worth trying. All of the meals were based on fresh organic locally grown produce with no worries if you happen to be vegan!!The owners and staff were most friendly and helpful. We will most certainly return.

Visited last night (Wednesday) with some friends as we are on a short holiday in Cornwall. What a lovely little place, amazing food - so nice to eat fresh vegetables - we had hot and sour continental lentils with lemon steamed pak choi and roasted root veg, simply divine. Bring your own wine as well which is a major plus and divine deserts, great price and lots of choice. Will definitely be back soon.
