My husband and I are strict vegetarians, since we discovered Woody's we very rarely go to any other restaurants. The food at Woody's is like homemade cooking. Very healthy, tasty, varied, well presented, wholesome and you feel good after having eaten there. I never feel bloated or as if I've eaten too much unhealthy or oily stuff.
I have travelled a lot in the UK and around the world and I think that it’s the best vegetarian restaurant by far.
To top it all up the staff, i.e. the chefs, waiters and waitresses are so friendly, helpful and the whole atmosphere is entirely welcoming, helpful, homely and relaxed. They do their best to accommodate your dietary requirements. It feels like they really care.
Also the other icing on the cake is that all the food there is organic or home grown!
I find my self there at least once or twice a week! We need more of Woody’s branches all over the UK for our fellow vegetarians out there and also the non-vegetarians as my meat eating friends also love it here.
Long live Woody’s! You must go there and see for yourself.

Went for family dinner; the group included my 18 month old granddaughter. Nothing was too much trouble, we were all well catered for, the atmosphere was friendly, food lovely, especially the Lavender and Honey ice cream. Would definitely vist again, and thoroughly recommend.

Went for lunch with 2 children. Very well catered for. Kids loved the pizzas and smoothies. My Morrocan Tagine was excellent. All the food tasted freshly cooked and the restaurant has a warm and friendly feel to it. Will return again.

We visited with a small party and found the food to be great especially the pizzas. We like the fact that you know you will not find any meat inclusions in our food but was disappointed that we were charged a non optional service charge without prior notice and after presenting our card for payment. The attitude that followed left a bad taste in our mouth.

I love this restaurant. I first came along with a vegan friend, feeling rather dubious, but my misgivings were unfounded and I have been several times and will continue to do so.
It's a delightful cafe-style restaurant with friendly, willing staff, lovely traditional lemonade, a great atmosphere and fantastic food. I am not vegetarian, but if veggie food was always this good I'd be happy never to eat meat again!

The staff were friendly enough but we had to wait over 45 mins after ordering to get our food, and when it arrived it was cold but we were so hungry by then we ate it. Service was neglectful to say the least and they weren't that busy.

Delicious food. Loved the pizza and the vegetable pie. Homemade lemonade is great. Pancakes are also great. Always friendly.

A truly wonderful cafe/restaurant and an oasis amidst the mediocrity of Hemel Hempstead. Delicious food, colourful decor, friendly service, very reasonably priced. Just the sort of place we veggies should be trying to keep alive.

I also wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. When we arrived at the restaurant we saw staff entering with many full shopping bags from Sainsbury's. At the time, my mother and I commented that perhaps we'd be better off shopping at Sainsbury's ourselves and do our own cooking. Turns out we were right. The staff were unpleasant and slow, they got our order wrong though they were not busy and in the end the food wasn't very good. We definitely could have done better at home! We will never return.

Having visited Woody's yesterday, 6th April 2008 , I don't know if it is the same place as your previous reviewer: we came as a group of 6, the staff couldn't not have been more helpful if they tried, the food was delicious, well priced, well presented, the place is spotless and very convenient if you fancy a walk along the canal in order to digest your lovely meal. Would definitely want to go again. I think this is a family run business and has very much a famiily atmosphere ( baby and child friendly).
Only downside is that their website is down at the moment.

I made a reservation on the morning of Thursday 3rd May for a birthday meal for eight on Monday 8th May. The restaurant had the audacity to contact me on the morning of the 8th May, at 10.50 a.m. to say that they were operating Sunday hours as it was a bank holiday. I was given the excuse that the lady taking the booking did not realise this. However, as she put the details of the booking into reservation site, had they had the common sense to note the amended opening hours in the book, this would not have happened. However, they then had four days in which to contact me, giving me time to make alternative arrangements; but instead they left it until the last minute to contact me, leaving it almost impossible to make alternative arrangements. Needless to say I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Their total and utter inconsideration has ruined my daughter's birthday celebrations.

This place does DELICIOUS authentic vegan pizza and yummy vegan cake, I can't tell you how exciting that is! It also has a very classy interior and is in a great waterside location. The only slight issue is the staff - not as friendly or helpful as one might wish, but I'd definitely recommend a visit to anyone, and especially pizza and cake lovers! They also do vegan crepes which I enjoyed.
